This is the second version of this painting. A possible client in Santa Monica comissioned a diptych of birds in flight. The nature of the flight of a bird in the sky makes me romanticise about gliding or flying. I wanted to join the RAF when I was a teenager, and later even studied physics with a hope to fly for RAF. The sense of freedom when a raven or a seagull leaps off a cliff up in the air riding the wind reminds me of the thermals a glider has to manoeuvre while gliding. I do glide occasionally. I so wish I had wings.
