There’s a famous story about a Japanese Akita (Hachikō) who waited nine years for his master (Hidesaburō Ueno) to come home following his death. It’s a romantic notion – that there’s someone out there that loves you so much, that they would wait forever. I’m a painter of nature. I like animals, and a lot of my artworks are motivated by them. I saw this dog waiting and I was struck with inspiration.
