Standing on Venice Beach in Los Angeles, I was struck by the way the jagged rocks cut through the vast ocean, the waves crashing with an untamed energy. There's a moment before a storm when everything feels suspended-an eerie calm, the air thick with anticipation. This painting captures that feeling.

I love painting the sea, the way light shifts over water, the blues deepening, the textures constantly changing. My brushstrokes are rough, raw-like the ocean itself. In the distance, LA's skyline barely emerges from the mist, a reminder of the city's presence beyond this wild, open space.

For me, the sea is both powerful and peaceful, and Calm Before the Storm is an expression of that balance.
